Blue Heron Restaurant located in beautiful, historic Pendleton, South Carolina has been serving our community delicious and innovative cuisines since 2002. Using quality ingredients sourced from our local farmers, or purchased from abroad, along with premium black angus beef, and east coast sourced seafood, the Blue Heron is dedicated to providing our guests with a fantastic experience. Daily house-cut steak, fish, shellfish, and maki rolls are a few menu items that help define us. We look forward to serving our upstate family and friends at Blue Heron Restaurant.

Tales from the kitchen

Chef and owner, Shaun Chastain, was born and raised in Central, South Carolina, and is a Daniel High School graduate. He attended Johnson & Wales University in Charleston, South Carolina where he graduated with a Culinary Arts Degree. After honing his skills in the city of Charleston, he moved to Atlanta, Georgia to continue learning and enhancing his trade. Since 2002, Shaun has accumulated both a wonderful staff of locally-trained chefs and long-lasting relationships with regional farmers. He loves contributing to his local community and feels continually blessed by those who have supported his small business, whether as friendly patrons or as fellow kitchen comrades, over the years.

Our team at Blue Heron has carefully selected wines from around the world to complement our delicious menus. 

Our current menu has over 20 offerings by the glass and over 125 bottles to choose from. Our by the glass offerings change seasonally in an effort to provide our guests with something new and different.

"The Blue Heron is our favorite restaurant. The food is expertly prepared and the dishes are fantastic. There is something delicious on the menu for everyone. Whether we’re in the mood for steaks, fish, pasta, or sushi, the Blue Heron has our dish. Equally, or even more importantly, is the staff and atmosphere they create. Everyone is friendly and helpful, creating an atmosphere as inviting as their food. When you walk in the door, you can see everyone enjoying themselves and the mood is contagious. Because of this friendly, family atmosphere, we feel welcome and comfortable every visit. Our favorite evening consists of eating at the bar where we can enjoy the full menu as well as making new friends on each visit."

" The Blue Heron’s Blackened Atlantic Salmon is perfection. It is complimented to a tee by the sauteed spinach and bed of cheese grits it rests upon. The only negative aspect about it is that it’s addictive influence has caused me to miss out on other menu options. Every time I make the 88 mile drive from my home to the Blue Heron, the salmon is all I’m thinking about."
